Applewild School Take a Look Morning- 9:00 AM - Applewild School (independent school for grades K through 8 serving families in central MA and southern NH) is hosting an Open House on the first Thursday of each month. Prospective parents are invited to meet at 9:00 AM at the Crocker Building, 120 Prospect St., Fitchburg, MA for an opportunity to tour the school and see teachers and students in action. Free giveaway at Bethany Baptist Church in Gardner: Saturday December 3, 2011 from 9am – 2pm at Bethany Baptist Church, Ryan Street, Gardner, MA (Ryan Street is off West Street/Route 68). Free giveaway of quality clothes, toys, housewares, home decor, and lots more. We will be collecting Campbell’s Labels for Education. Please bring any that you have!
Westminster Historical Society Christmas Open House: At 110 Main Street on Saturday, December 3, 2011 from 9am-2pm. Enjoy a cup of coffee or hot cider with cookies next to the fire place as you think about items in the Gift Shop for that special someone from Westminster. We'll also have a Food Sale of sweets for your holiday table! Lots of new and original items.

Monday, December 5
Wachusett Writers and Poets Club: Meets every Monday at the Westminster Town Hall, 11 South Street, Westminster, Ma. 1:00 pm- 3:00 pm. Dues are $1.00 per meeting. Writers of all genres are welcome. There is no age requirement nor limit for membership. All that is needed is a desire to write, share, and learn. The next two meetings of the Club are scheduled for November 28, 2011 and December 5, 2011. Members will be discussing the Club’s plans for a book publication.

The Westminster Historical Society: Trip of A Lifetime—Spring in Antarctica Joyce Hannula will do a power point presentation on her Antarctic trip that she took with her husband, Lloyd and John and Beth Bowen. It will take place at 7pm on Tuesday, January 10.

In the early 1800s, tensions between the US and Spain were increasing over border disputes in North America.
